*Has your experience
of
health or wellness care been less than desirable?
*Do your providers use the correct name and pronoun throughout your
healthcare experience (waiting room, exam room, etc)?
*Have your providers outright refused you due treatment?
*Have they given you well-intentioned under-treatment (that is...
they'd
love to help you and are receptive, but they don't have enough
knowledge to properly do so)?
....or Are you one of the lucky people among us who has a knowledgeable
culturally-competent provider who consistently provides quality
treatment?
If your answer to any of these
questions is yes, we'd love to know about it. We would love to
hear about the good, the bad, and the ugly of your health care and
wellness experiences. We'll put snippets of these (without personal
identifiers) on the site, so we can have tangible stories about why
queer and trans healthcare education is necessary. To have your story
heard, please send an Email with the following information and anything
else to healthcollective AT
gmail.com :
The basics of your story
whatever they might be.
Was your experience in a
mainstream health setting or a queer and/or trans-focused setting?
Other demographic/identity
situations (if relevant to your story) [including but in no way limited
to: age, racial or ethnic identification, polyamorous or monogamous
relationship status, HIV+ status, (dis)ability level, class,
insurance/medicare status, etc.]
Do you feel your identity and
lived experience were respected by your provider?
In your opinion, what should a
provider do to make sure patients receive optimum health and wellness
care
and are treated with dignity and respect?
Again, please email us with this
information. It will
help others know they
are not alone, and it will help QPHC shape how best to educate
providers via our pamphlets in the future. You'll be helping us to
change the state of queer and trans health and wellness care.
